Pureology Serious Colour Care

It's Earth Day, April 22nd, and we wanted to highlight Pureology, our luxury brand of haircare that is 100% committed to sustainability! Here are some of the things Pureology does to help with sustainability while providing excellent color care shampoos, conditioners, and styling products:

  • All Pureology product bottles are made of 50% post-consumer recycled product and are 100% recyclable.
  • Pureology has reduced the amount of water needed to produce their products by 58%.

In addition to their sustainability practices, Pureology is also one of very few beauty brands that have earned a Green Seal™ certification on their product: Precious Oil Versatile Caring Oil. Green Seal is a non-profit organization that is committed to safeguarding the environment and transforming the way things are manufactured, produced and used. There are four major areas that companies must comply in order to have a product certified: the impact of product extraction, the manufacturing process, product use, and product disposal. Only a small handfull of companies have completed Green Seal's rigorous certification process which speaks to their commitment to sustainability. Baby Plant

Elle Marie is also celebrating Earth Day in the salon with a limited number of complimentary wild flower seed pots for our scheduled guests!

When should I book my appointment, in order to be blonde by summer?

    Alderwood Hair Stylist Ashlie

If you are planning on going blonde for summer or simply lightening your color, plan to visit within the next month or so. Achieving vibrant blonde hair is a process that may require multiple appointments to get you to your goal. We want your hair in the healthiest state it can be and working in steps will allow us to give you your desired result without sacrificing the integrity of your hair.

How can I keep my vivids vivid?

    Woodinville Hair Stylist Jamae

Vivid hair colors are no longer just for punk rockers. From subtle rose gold tones to funky rainbows, requests for these looks are on the rise.

These colors are fun to rock, but it is important to know they are just like a high maintenance girlfriend and require much care.

Before you get started you will need to pre-lighten your hair to at least a pale yellow so your vivid colors will POP. During the pre-lightening service and after care, you may also need protein or moisture treatments to maintain the integrity of your hair.

To maintain your new color’s vibrancy, I suggest using cold water to wash your hair. This will prevent the cuticle from opening which will cause the color to “fall out.” You will also need to use a color safe shampoo and conditioner to prevent fading. Dry shampoo is great between showers since the more often you wash your hair, the more it will fade. I also recommend you avoid heat styling as that will also open the cuticle. Finally, NO SWIMMING! Chlorine and salt will strip and dehydrate your hair.

It’s 1 p.m. on a Monday. Do you know where your stylist is?

Chances are, if your stylist works at Elle Marie Hair Studio, they are taking a class, learning new techniques to better your salon experience! Elle Marie takes absolute pride in continuing education for our stylists, front desk, and management. Recently, over 30 of our employees ventured to Las Vegas for 4 days of classes on trends and techniques, fashion shows displaying the newest colors and cuts, and business management methods to bring back home with us. It is one thing that truly sets Elle Marie apart, and it's all for you, our guests! In the hair industry, less than 10% of salons engage in regular continued education. Next time you plan on trying a fun fashion color or are interested in a balayage, you better believe we know the newest and best ways to get you there!
